The Infamous Ocean-Borns are pretty freakin' fabulous. I am writing up a storm. I mean a storm. I feel these songs. I set a message to Jordan as soon as I wrote one and played it the first time. "Jordan, I've just written a song that had me wailing like Thom Yorke and screaming like Amanda Palmer." Jordan, to my great sorrow, is working because he is a responsible man and waistcoats do not pay for themselves. We talk infrequently. I am not working this year, to everyone's chagrin. But this is irrelevant. I simply have more time to work on my music.
We're on Last.fm. This blog is still to be a consistent source of information straight from the horses' mouths of babes. Wait. Something like that. The Last.fm page will be a sort of TIOB wiki. If you need to know about a certain song or album, go there. Visit us here and take a second to add us to your library! Our songs will eventually go there. http://www.last.fm/music/The+Infamous+Oc
Are you a fan of us on Facebook? You damn well should be, children. The Facebook page is to be a source of information that comes in stream-of-consciousness form, not unlike a Twitter feed (which we may or may not have in the Future (TM)) It is to be where we post tiny thoughts and the second-best place to interact with us directly (the first is right in front of your face, darlings, this journal). LOOK AT US here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Infamo
As for the longest item on our agenda, The Drownèd Pyrophone is not in your possession. This is a problem we are working very hard to fix. The problem lies in the simple fact that Jordan and I very rarely get time to make music and record. In the meantime, though, we will post snippets and clippings of whispers and rumours and secrets and lies. Here is where we will chronicle our surprisingly busy lives. Maybe full-time musicians don't have to worry about school and homework.
Here is some stuff about me you might not have known. I am 15 years old and I live in New Hampshire. You probably know that. Did you know I had a solo project before we formed The Infamous Ocean-Borns? It was called Axiøm. This is where I developed myself as a singer-songwriter. I still record some stuff under that name. Most recently it was a five-layer cover of Guitar Hero by Amanda Palmer. If any of you want to hear some of my old stuff (although I'm not sure why you'd want to. Some of it's really good, some of it's really bad), hit me with an email at firstname.lastname@example.org . I bring this up only because I will be doing some covers this week and they will almost assuredly be better than the old stuff. I wrote a song the other day that was totally original. Then I listened to Jason Webley's Icarus (HOMG SO GOOD) which I had only heard once before. Then I realized I had totally stolen the riff from him. It was a dark day. To make up for this, I will be recording a straight-up piano-guitar-vocals-organ-strings cover of it along with Patrick Wolf's The Magic Position off of the album of the same name.
Yes, right, speaking of albums, I am hard at work mastering the tracks from the demo sessions we've done. This is a stupid idea and will only end in heartbreak. Demo sessions are meant to rust under a bed and be rediscovered when we've just won 1,005 Grammies for Best/Most Pretentious Band and sold for a bamillion dollars simply because they are old. I am still looking at making pretty cover art for the album that at once captures the monochrome of the current copy (made from public-domain images by Jordan) with an aesthetic for the vaudevillian. This will be a master stroke. I can feel it.
Oh, God, I can feel it.
Anne's ghost all around
Hear her voice as it's rolling and ringing through me
Soft and sweet
